family and children's literacy programs in Regina and southern Saskatchewan.
Illiteracy is one of society's hidden handicaps. Statistics show that a shocking 22% of adult Canadians have serious problems with reading and comprehension. The Leader-Post Raise-a-Reader Campaign is designed to address the issue head-on and raise money and awareness for child and family literacy, building stronger local communities.

How to sponsor a SaskCentral QCM participant for charity
Through the "Pledge Now" button at the bottom of this page, you, your family and your friends can sponsor a SaskCentral QCM participant. All funds donated through the "Pledge Now" link go directly to our designated charities and the charity will automatically email you a tax receipt when you make your pledge.
Here's how you do it:
- Click on the "Pledge Now to an Athlete Participant" button located at the bottom of this page.
- It will take you to the donations page where you can find the SaskCentral QCM participant you want to sponsor.
- Type the participant's name in the space provided and click on the “find athlete” button.
- Remember, the athlete has to be a registered participant of a SaskCentral QCM event.
- If they are not yet registered and entered into the database, the computer will not be able to find them.
- After you click the “find athlete” button, you should see a page showing the participant's name, the event (SaskCentral Queen City Marathon), the date of the race and the name of the charity we've designated for direct online pledging.
- Click on the charity name.
- This takes you to the athlete's donation page, showing the athlete's fundraising goal (if one has been set), how much money has been donated so far towards that goal, and a “Sponsor Me” button.
- Also, at the bottom of this page will be a list that shows the names of anyone else who has already sponsored this athlete, plus any special messages they have written.
- To sponsor this athlete, click on the “Sponsor Me” button.
- You're now on the donation page.
- This is an encrypted page – just like our online registration page – and all information you enter here is secure.
- Fill in the information required to make your donation.
- The donation amount MUST be in the form of a NUMBER.
- For example, type “10” instead of “$10.00”.
- Please do not put any spaces in your credit card number.
- For example, type “1234567890123456” instead of “1234 5678 9012 3456”.
- You can even write a short comment to the athlete in the space provided.
- If you don't want your name or comment to appear on the public sponsor list, click on the little button provided for this purpose.
- Now click on the “Submit” button.
- You will now see the confirmation page, where your donation information is confirmed.
- You will automatically be sent an email with the complete details of your donation. Please keep it for your reference.
- Also, your official tax receipt is included as an attachment in your confirmation email.
That's all there is to it – it takes a lot longer to explain than it does to donate! To pledge, click on the "Pledge Now" button below.
